Entrepreneurs commit to consolidating the bases of economic diversification

By stating “we want to continue betting on Venezuela”, the president of the Federation of Chambers and Associations of Commerce and Production of Venezuela (Fedecámaras), Adán Celis, reaffirmed the commitment of the business sector to build – along with the National Government – the foundations of the diversified economy.

During his participation in the Conference for Dialogue, Peace and Coexistence in ratification of the Barbados Agreements, convened by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, he emphasized that “we have to walk towards there” based on the sum of efforts of workers, businessmen and the Venezuelan State to definitively break the ties of oil rentism:

On behalf of businessmen we want to continue betting on Venezuela, we want to accompany it in the discourse of the change from the rentier Venezuela to a productive Venezuela. We have a lot to walk, but we businessmen are going to be here,” he said from the Eurobuilding Hotel, located in Miranda state.

Celis explained that the private business community has already made progress in working together with the National Government, particularly with the Vice Presidency of the Republic and the Ministries of People’s Power for Economy and Finance; and the Social Work Process, through permanent articulation mechanisms to promote the growth of the productive economy.

On the other hand, when referring to the agreements signed between the National Government and the oppositions gathered in the Unitary Platform, Adán Celis positively valued the results of the political dialogue, given that it is a sign “that all Venezuelans can meet in different thoughts, but with a single common destiny, which is Venezuela.”

The president of Fedecámaras also stressed that the partial lifting of sanctions against the oil, gas and gold industry – through the General License issued by the United States Department of the Treasury – is good news that “opens a window of, at least six months, which we hope will be extended.”

In a similar position, the president of the Federation of Chambers and Associations of Artisans, Micros, Small and Medium-sized Industries and Companies of Venezuela (Fedeindustria), Orlando Camacho, reiterated his confidence in broad dialogue to achieve peace, reconciliation and economic prosperity.

The Conference for Dialogue, Peace and Coexistence brings together sectors of politics, economy, culture, working class and civil society to unite wills in the face of the new stage that is beginning for Venezuela, as well as to endorse and expand the elements contained in the Barbados agreements.
