Venezuela rejects offensive statements by Guyana on consultative referendum

Through a communiqué, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela led by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, categorically rejected the infamous and offensive statements by the authorities of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, regarding the consultative referendum scheduled for December 3, 2023, which are loaded with deep contempt for the Venezuelan people.

This was published by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, through his account on the X social network, @yvangil, on which he stressed that “The Venezuelan men and women have the right to express themselves in a democratic manner, in matters of special national significance.”

The text highlights that once again Guyana’s statements are written by the law firm employed by the American company, Exxon Mobil; a company that corrupts Latin American and Caribbean values, whose actions are contrary to what is established in public international law:

The insistent refusal of diplomatic dialogue by the President of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, threatens a dangerous escalation to a large-scale conflict, promoted by the United States Southern Command,” underlines the communiqué.

Following, the text of the Communiqué:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the infamous and offensive statements by the government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, regarding the consultative referendum scheduled for December 3, 2023, which are loaded with a deep contempt against the Venezuelan people, its Bolivarian history and its right to express, in a Democratic manner, in matters of special national significance.

The statements of Guyana, once again, are being redacted by the law firm employees of the Exxon Mobil, a company that has corrupted the Latin American and Caribbean values of this nation, and has bought the political class of Guyana, dragging them down to an erratic path of action, contrary to the Public International Right, with the goal of getting hold of energy resources that do not belong to them, and to try to jeopardize the peace and stability of Venezuela.

Contrary to this anti-sovereign practice, the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in full exercise of its attributions, has decided to consult the People of Venezuela on the master lines of the juridic, diplomatic and political actions, with the aim of enforcing the legitimate rights over the territory of the Guayana Essequiba.

The insistent negative to dialogue by the president of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, threatens with a dangerous escalation to a conflict of big dimensions, promoted by the Southern Command of the United States.

Venezuela, in accordance with the international right and the principles consecrated in the Agreement of Geneva of 1966, insists on exhorting the Guyanese government to desist of their unilateral actions subordinated to the transnational capitals, and to seriously assume the direct negotiations that allow a practical and mutually accepted agreement between the parts, one that solves the territorial controversy, just as it was agreed with the Great Britain’s United Kingdom, right before the birth of Guyana as an Independent nation.

The sun of Venezuela rises in the Essequibo.”
