Court of the Republic deprives Juan Requesens of his freedom for terrorism and other crimes

The First Special Court of First Instance in Control Functions with jurisdiction in cases related to crimes associated with terrorism with jurisdiction at the national level, agreed to a measure of judicial deprivation in preventive of liberty, in accordance with the provisions of Article 236, in its numerals 1 , 2 and 3 concatenated with articles 237, numerals 2 and 3 and first paragraph, and 238 in numerals 1 and 2, all of the Organic Code of Criminal Procedure, against citizen Juan Carlos Requesens Martínez, as alleged perpetrator and participant in crimes of continued public instigation, treason, intentional homicide in degree of frustration in the person of the President of the Republic, intentional homicide rated in degree of frustration against seven members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, terrorism, association to commit a crime and possession of weapons and ammunition.

After the oral hearing held on Tuesday in Caracas, the aforementioned Court set the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) as the place of detention of Requesens, and agreed to order the seizure of all the movable and immovable property of the said citizen and place them at the order of the National Office against Organized Crime and Financing of Terrorism, as well as the prohibition of alienation and taxation; it also decreed a measure of blocking and immobilization of bank accounts related to the accused.

In the same oral hearing, the Court admitted the prequalification of the same committed crimes, made by the Public Ministry to the accused Alejandro Pérez Gámez, Pedro Javier Zambrano, Brayan of Jesús Oropeza Ruiz and Yanín Fabiana Pernía, and agreed to decree a measure of deprivation of liberty. On the other hand, it decreed a substitute injunction consisting of periodic filings every 15 days and the prohibition of José Gregorio Blanco and Luis Alberto Guerra from leaving the country for being implicated as accomplices not necessary in the offense of launching an explosive device.

In the decision, the First Special Court of First Instance in Control Functions with jurisdiction in cases related to crimes associated with terrorism with jurisdiction at the national level agreed to carry out a legal medical examination for all the defendants in order to verify their health status.

Deprivation from freedom to three others implicated in attempted assassination:

The First Special Court of First Instance in Control Functions with jurisdiction in cases related to crimes associated with terrorism with national jurisdiction also held on Tuesday the oral hearing of the citizens Juan Carlos Monasterios Vanegas, Argenis Gabriel Valera Ruiz and José Eloy Rivas Díaz , against whom was ordered a measure of judicial deprivation, privative of liberty, were set and the headquarters of the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) as their place of confinement.

Monasterios Vanegas and Valera Ruiz were charged with the crimes of treason against the Homeland, intentional homicide in degree of frustration against the person of the President of the Republic, qualified intentional homicide executed with treachery and for futile reasons in degree of frustration against seven members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, explosive device launched at a public meeting, violent damage to property, terrorism and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Regarding Rivas Díaz, he was accused of intentional homicide in degree of frustration against the person of the President of the Republic, intentionally executed murder with treachery and for futile reasons in degree of frustration against seven members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, financing to terrorism, violent damage to property, terrorism, financing of terrorism and association to commit crimes.

The three citizens were also ordered a preventive seizure of all movable and immovable property in their name, as well as the prohibition of transferring and encumbering them, and the blocking and immobilization of their bank accounts.
