The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, called this Wednesday, October 18, for a National Conference for Peace, Democracy and Dialogue in which all sectors of the country can participate:
“Let us collectively assume the responsibilities, we are in the presence of a new stage for the country,” stated the national leader upon receiving the documents signed by the delegations of the Government of Venezuela and the opposition sector grouped in the so-called Unitary Platform last Tuesday. in the city of Bridgetown, Barbados.
The Head of State emphasized: “We have to consolidate a Venezuela free of sanctions, enough of the calls that we saw in the years 2016-17-18-19-20-21, calls from all these people who now live like magnates abroad (…) the pressure they put in order to fill Venezuela with sanctions.”
President Maduro recalled that our country is burdened by more than 900 unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States on the country’s economic body, and that they have directly affected Venezuelans.
«People know who asked for sanctions, invasions by foreign armies, our people are very well informed and know who was behind the coup d’état, those who participated in the attack to assasinate us are convicted and confessed. Enough is enough! Let’s turn the page and Let’s make our Venezuela a great country of development,» he expressed.
For his part, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, pointed out that the call to all sectors “is necessary to be able to endorse and expand the elements contained in the agreements – of Barbados – and for all sectors of political and social life of Venezuela to be incorporated into a great national agreement for peace, respect for institutions and the Constitution, for the safeguarding of our heritage, our assets and also for a life in our country free of sanctions.»
From the Simón Bolívar Hall of Miraflores Palace, Maduro finally asserted that the social wounds resulting from the sanctions will take time to heal, but for this national unity is necessary.
