President Maduro calls on national union to repudiate theft of PDVSA assets

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called on Wednesday for the union of all sectors of the country to repudiate the great international operation to strip the country of the assets concentrated in Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) around the world:
“I denounce it with much indignation because this does not belong to Maduro, this belongs to generations that come in the future and it is also being done in an illegal, criminal and mafia way. They are acting like mafias abroad protected by the government of the United States (USA) so I denounce and ask for a national union to repudiate this pillage and this robbery of the Citgo company, which belongs to all Venezuelans”, he said from Miranda, state where he supervised the Cream To Cream chocolate factory.
He explained that the National Assembly (AN) in contempt, appointed an alleged prosecutor of the Republic, the Venezuelan citizen José Ignacio Hernández who impersonated a PDVSA official and unconstitutionally acted before the US courts, causing them to fail in favor of the Crystallex mining company that maintains a dispute with Venezuela, and thus seize Citgo.
“This mafia of the self-proclaimed (Juan Guaidó), appointed him as alleged attorney and as supposed lawyer of the Republic and what does he do? In a conspiracy with Crystallex he produces legal actions on the file and gives the company reason to come against an asset of the Republic that is Citgo”, he said.
Given this, he called for maximum awareness for the operation and called on businessmen and “honest” opponents to reject these actions, where “they remain with more than 400 million dollars”, and almost “eight billion dollars of Citgo that belong to the country”.
He also warned about the complicity of the US government that together with the extreme right wing seek to illegally appropriate the country’s wealth.
On the other hand, the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, clarified that Crystallex did not have a legitimate title or property right over the gold mine in Venezuela and only had a service operations contract that was revoked by the environmental plan that was presented, that went against the rights of nature in that area of exploitation:
“It is an operation that really calls the global, international alert, because it is a new way of appropriating the resources of a country through a false recognition of the Government that does not exist” and described it as a case “with a specific, geopolitical objective to seize the assets of the homeland”, he said.
This Wednesday, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced a large international organized crime operation to strip the country of the assets PDVSA has around the world, and in which members of the Voluntad Popular right-wing party participate. She also mentioned the president of the AN in contempt, Juan Guaidó; Carlos Vecchio and Ricardo Haussmann.
After this denounce, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) initiated an investigation against Hernández, who was posing as an official of the Venezuelan state before the Court of Appeals of the Third Circuit of Philadelphia, United States, who decided to reject an appeal of PDVSA for a ruling issued in August 2018 by the Delaware District Court that would allow the Canadian mining company Crystallex International Corporation to seize Citgo assets.
