President Maduro received credential letters from the new ambassador of Portugal

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed on Monday the new Portuguese ambassador to Venezuela, Joao Pedro de Vasconcelos Fins do Lago, who delivered to him his credentials to begin his diplomatic work in the country.

Vasconcelos Fins do Lago, 58 years old, has a law degree with a diploma in Advanced European Administrative Studies, and his last diplomatic post was held as Consul General of Portugal in Boston, United States.

He was previously Consul General in Shanghai and prior to this position, Director of Services of International Economic Organizations of the General Directorate of Foreign Policy of the Chancellory of Portugal.

Venezuelan Chancellor Carlos Faria was in charge of officially welcoming the Portuguese diplomat at Miraflores Palace.

After President Maduro receiving his credentials from his hands in the Sol del Perú Hall at Miraflores Palace, the two held a brief meeting.
