Venezuela asks human rights organizations to establish a position in defense of Venezuelans in Colombia

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated this Thursday that the Venezuelan Government is taking steps before international human rights organizations “so that they take action on the matter” of the violence of which are being victim the Venezuelans in Colombia.

He urged Venezuelans living in Colombia “to defend their rights and dignity, we will continue taking steps so that all human rights organizations take action on the matter”, he said.

In this context, he commented on the visit to Colombia by the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and assured that “Duque’s meeting with Blinken was very tense because cocaine production has increased”.

He questioned this interest of the White House in the neighboring nation, considering that Colombia is recognized by international organizations as the largest drug producer in the world, and one of the most violent ones.

Regarding the reestablishment of relations between Venezuela and Colombia, an initiative of the parliaments of both nations, he considered that this will allow to be able to give legal support to Venezuelans who are victims of xenophobia in the neighboring country.
