President Maduro summons elected opposition governors to define work agenda

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, convened this Sunday to the three elected opposition governors to work and support local development projects, through the Federal Council of Government (CFG).

After the National Electoral Council (CNE) released the first bulletin of the regional and municipal elections, the Head of State offered a message to the Nation from Miraflores Palace, from where he called to respect the results, to motivate the political dialogue and for the national reunification:

“The opposition has elected three governors (…), I make the same call to them: Let’s go to work with dialogue and understanding,” he said.

The national leader stressed on the need “to work in good faith. I hold out my hands to work. I do it once again, with good will and good faith”, he said.

He announced that in the next few days he will convene a meeting of the Federal Council of Government to which the 335 mayors who have been elected in this mega-elections of 21N will also be called.

In this context, he expressed his confidence that the elected governors in Nueva Esparta, Cojedes and Zulia states will know how to respond to the invitation to work, because “they are politicians with long experience.”

“I am sure that we are going to re-empower the CFG and we are going to put our effort into a political dialogue for action with all the governors and mayors,” he added.
