The President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro alerted the population to the increase in positive Covid 19 cases in the Greater Caracas, on which he called on all Caracas to take precautionary measures to prevent potential infections by Sars-Cov-2.
The national president specified the Greater Caracas currently registers a rate of 90 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, tripling the national average, which is located at 23 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
During the work table held this Thursday with the Cabinet of Social Missions, at Miraflores Palace, the Head of State reiterated the guidelines for the start of face-to-face classes on the third week of October, as well as the wide flexibility for the year-end, specifically for the months of November and December, although he warned that if the rebound in COVID-19 cases continues, the capital region will be exempted from these measures:
«I want it to be clear to the people of Caracas, if we do not take care of ourselves, if we do not reduce infections, if we do not take special measures, we could not make the Greater Caracas more flexible in November and December”, he emphasized.

For her part, the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, explained that the Delta variant is currently circulating in the capital region, which has an accelerated incidence of contagion, which is why the authorities urge to a greater individual and collective effort to take care of themselves:
“(The Delta variant) has a contagion level between six to eight times higher, so the call is to maintain with great discipline the prevention measures. The use of a mask is essential (…) hand washing, the use of disinfectant”, she insisted.
Given this scenario, President Nicolás Maduro ordered to increase vaccination efforts in the capital region during the coming weeks, along with the successful development of this immunization phase throughout the country:
“Since the vaccination process against covid-19 began, 40% of the population has been vaccinated. Within two weeks it is estimated that 58% of the population will be vaccinated and 70% of the population will be vaccinated by the end of October”, he affirmed.
