Vice President Rodríguez: “All our struggles and victories are thanks to the heroic people of Venezuela”

“All our struggles, victories, are thanks to this blessed and heroic people of Venezuela who will never be defeated, humiliated or subjugated”, said this Monday the executive vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, during the act of lighting the Libertarian and Bolivarian Flame, held at the Bolivar Square in Caracas, as part of the commemoration of the 211th anniversary of the cry of freedom and emancipation of the Homeland.

In her speech during this emotional and symbolic day, Vice President Rodríguez assured “211 years after the blessed day of that spark, of that flame that put Venezuela in the front row, thanks to those brave men and women (…) Today we have the undefeated Venezuela to defend the homeland from these new but decadent and violent empires”.

“Today we can say that Venezuela is stronger than ever, today we have enough strength, undefeated to defend the homeland, today we can say that we are bigger and stronger than ever, as a Republic, we are worthy of winning the battle for emancipation”, she emphasized.

The event, which took place with the participation of the people of Caracas, in compliance with strict bio-safety measures, included a staging of historical aspects of the legacy of the heroes of our independence on April 19, 1810, the genesis of this spark that led to the liberation of Venezuela and the continent from the Spanish yoke, sealed in the glory of the Carabobo Battlefield, today in the preamble of its bicentennial.

Reflecting on the significance of this deed in the times the Homeland is living today, Rodriguez reaffirmed that “we have a people determined to freedom, it is impossible to go back”.

In this sense, she recalled Bolivar’s words when he affirmed “My anxieties will be projected in the future”.

“Now we are telling him (Bolivar): Your anxieties are being solved by ourselves as a dignified and heroic people that will never be subdued. Let that patriotic flame go out to travel through Venezuela!”, she said.

She also pointed out that this year “We are on towards the Bicentennial of the Battle of Carabobo, one of the most glorious battles in the world, with which Venezuela undoubtedly determined the bases of universal balance, of the freedom of the peoples of the world”.

When handing the Libertarian flame to the group of athletes who will also carry our tricolor flag to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, she exhorted them to “Go around the country with this flame of patriotic fervor, may the patriotic fervor never be extinguished, you are the guarantee of our liberators”.

The Libertarian and Bolivarian flame thus began its journey that will take it in the coming days to various states of the country, until it reaches the Carabobo Field, where it will rekindle its patriotic fire to resume its journey to the rest of the country’s entities.
