Maduro urged US Congress to initiate investigation into funds directed at the extreme right wing

In a message addressed to the United States Congress (USA), which took office this Sunday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called for the initiation of an investigation into the resources allocated by the Donald Trump administration to the Venezuelan extreme right wing.

“Hopefully the new Congress that is being installed in the United States will investigate the use of the 1.7 billion dollars that Donald Trump gave to the extremist opposition in Venezuela,” he said from the Military Circle, in Caracas.

During a meeting with deputies from the Homeland Bloc, he explained that the economic funds “come from US taxpayers”, which is why he pointed out that “I wish someone had the courage in the United States to do an investigation on how they were stolen, of the multi-million dollar accounts that Leopoldo López has in tax havens, of the multi-million dollar accounts of Juan Guaidó and his entire family in tax havens”.

“They have stolen all that money that the United States Government has given to them,” he stressed.

To these resources assigned by the White House, are added the assets stolen from Citgo, a subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) in North American territory, and the Monómeros company, that exceed 30,000 million dollars.

The dignitary stressed that the outgoing National Assembly (AN), with an opposition majority, dedicated itself to promoting the aggression against the state oil company guided by “their group interests and ambitions.”
