President Maduro: Opposition broke dialogue in Venezuela

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured this Friday that the Venezuelan opposition broke the dialogue between the country’s sectors, to consolidate stability in the nation.

In his words for the closure of the Virtuous Cycle by the Homeland of the National Constituent Assembly, from the Federal Legislative Palace, the Head of State reviewed the main reasons that led to the creation of this body.

In this way, he highlighted the violent events of the “guarimbas” (riots) of 2017, which he described as a failed attempt to overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution:

“All the political leaders of that so-called opposition went to extremism, to call for violence, the opposition broke the dialogue table,” declared the President.

He recalled that during these violent events, 29 Venezuelans lost their lives, some were burned for their skin color, or “for looking like Chavistas.”

“How many members of the Bolivarian National Police and the National Guard were affected for life by these violent events?” Questioned the Venezuelan president, referring to the police officers and the Bolivarian National Guard who were injured during the clashes.

Likewise, he pointed out that there is still much to show about the damage of the “guarimbas” of 2017, “but we have to be grateful, that the Venezuelan people were brave every day, showing their face.”

“I stayed at the forefront to protect the rights of the people, to protect the peace of all Venezuelans,” stressed President Maduro, who called for justice for these crimes committed.
