Venezuela and Russia coordinate actions in defense of the principles of the UN Charter

On Tuesday, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held a meeting with the ambassador of the Russian Federation accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.

This was reported by the Venezuelan Chncellor through his account on Twitter, @jaarreaza.

“This morning we met with the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov. We continue to coordinate our positions in multilateral forums in defense of the principles of the UN Charter”, he wrote.

The meeting was also propitious to reviewing the progress of joint projects in different areas.

In recent days, Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov thanked the Venezuelan people and government for accompanying the Eurasian nation in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), which took place in the National Pantheon, with a wreath.

On that occasion, Minister Arreaza emphasized that: “This is the moment for the consolidation of the multipolar, multicenter world”, referring to the health situation derived from coronavirus, and the need to establish new cooperative relationships.

In the last two decades, Venezuela and Russia have strengthened their relations through a strategic alliance that is consolidated at each meeting of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), mainly in energy, economic, technological, industrial and military matters.
