Arreaza asks Colombian chancellor to establish bilateral contacts

The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, asked on Wednesday his Colombian counterpart, Carlos Holmes Trujillo to establish a dialogue to evaluate different issues, including the immigration situation between the two nations.

From Geneva, where was held the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Venezuelan diplomat assured that communication with his Colombian counterpart has been impossible so far, as reviews a press release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

He stressed that Colombia, along with other countries in the region, is fighting over the resources offered by the United States and the European Union to address the alleged Venezuelan migration crisis:

“We know that they use it to request resources, Colombia is an expert asking for resources, first for the Colombia Plan to eradicate drugs and fight against irregular forces; they did not eradicate drugs, nor did they achieve peace”, he said.

He added that Venezuela remains willing to establish a dialogue with the Colombian government, as well as to continue contributing to peace in that country.
