Venezuela ratifies its commitment to peace on the Day of Destruction of Firearms

Every July 9th is celebrated the International Day of the Destruction of Firearms, at the initiative of the United Nations Organization, which established this date in 2001 on the occasion of holding of the International Conference of the United Nations on the Illicit Trade of light and Small firearms.

Venezuela ratifies on this date its commitment in favor of peace and life, said this Monday the Minister for Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace, Néstor Reverol, in a message posted on Twitter.

The message was accompanied by a video that highlights the number of firearms destroyed in the country since 2003 to date, 467,000 in total.

These weapons, which have been taken out of circulation, are fused and used for the construction of houses or converted into art pieces, “as part of the idea we are building: to fight the cult of arms, to cultivate peace and celebrate life ”
