Government commission for dialogue returns to Venezuela

The Bolivarian Government’s commission for dialogue gave a proposal to the opposition sector on Thursday, with proposals to overcome obstacles after the right wing did not attended the meeting scheduled for Wednesday in the Dominican Republic.

The information was released by Telesur correspondent Mónica Vistali, through her Twitter account, on which she also detailed that the coordinator of the commission, Jorge Rodríguez, indicated that these obstacles to dialogue would be the division of the Board of Democratic Unity (MUD) and pressure from Miami for the opposition to abandon talks and resume violence in the country.

“We think we’re close enough to overcome those obstacles. We expect the opposition’s response in the next few hours”, said Rodríguez.

The talks between the Venezuelan Government and the opposition began last September 13, in the company of (Former Spanish President Rodriguez) Zapatero and the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, in order to establish mechanisms to overcome the political, economic and social crisis that the South American country is experiencing .

On Thursday, the MUD issued a statement to ratify its refusal to participate in the meetings with the Venezuelan Government in order to establish a dialogue for the stability of the country:

“We ratify that we will continue with the exploratory phase that we aspire to lead to an international negotiation and agreement in Dominican Republic as soon as are removed the obstacles that the government has placed and which motivated our unanimous decision not to attend the meeting of the 27th”, indicates the text.
