Venezuela reiterated before CELAC its support and commitment of regional cooperation

The Vice President for Communication, Culture and Tourism of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, stressed that his country wishes to contribute to regional integration to achieve sustainable development, within the framework of the installation of the pro-tempore presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Mexico.

During his participation, Rodríguez extended the “fraternal” and “respectful” greetings of the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the Venezuelan people to the delegates of the CELAC countries.

The minister expressed the commitment of the Government of the South American country with the pro-tempore presidency to contribute to the 14 work areas raised by Mexico, which are based on achieving victories in cultural matters, science and technology, health and governance, among others.

He stressed that his Government is working for “the promotion of international dialogue and cooperation for development with other States in the region and with other international actors and the political agreement between governments to strengthen the region and give more well-being and happiness to our peoples.”

“Today is a momentous and fundamental moment for our peoples, because CELAC brings us together again in this sisterly Homeland as is Mexico, which corresponds to being an essential actor in the unity and integration of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean” said the also Minister for Communication.

He stressed that this meeting held in Mexico City “is an example that peaks respect and self-determination of peoples, non-interference in internal affairs; that allows us to identify the space, scope and areas in which it is possible and necessary to work together so that our countries continue to be filled with hope”.

He said that “it is time to move forward and guarantee achievements through unity and diversity, recognizing who we are and what we can contribute to create solutions.”

In a message placed on his Twitter account, Rodriguez also thanked Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) “For so much hospitality and Latin Americanist spirit.”
