Russia announces visit of President Nicolás Maduro

The Russian Vice Minister for Energy, Antón Iniutsin, said the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, will visit the Eurasian country next week.

Speaking to local media, reported by the EFE news agency, Iniutsin said that the Venezuelan leader will participate next Wednesday at the “Russian Energy Week 2017” forum.

Both countries are members of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee in charge of ensuring compliance with the oil cut-off agreement signed in late 2016 by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and 11 external producers, which establishes a reduction of 1,758,000 daily barrels in order to boost the recovery of crude oil prices, which have been on decline since 2014.

In addition to the oil subject, Venezuela and Russia strengthen their ties of cooperation in the economic field. In that line, the South American country will receive 600,000 tons of wheat of Russian origin until next December.
