Attorney General offered management balance with higher prosecutors of all states

In the company of the 24 higher prosecutors of the Public Ministry (MP), the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, evaluated the achievements made since the beginning of his administration, in August 2017.
During the meeting Saab informed that since its arrival 150 officials have been dismissed for the improper use of their positions, among them are several former prosecutors
“We are facing a radical change. People have already lost the fear of denouncing this kind of illegal actions because they also affect the national economy”, he stressed from the headquarters of the Public Ministry, located in Caracas.
The Attorney General stressed the figures presented by the Directorate of Higher Prosecutors: “The Victim Attention Units attended 199,557 people”, while another “120,327 people were served in Citizen Care Offices”.
In the same way, he affirmed that during this 2019 “a total of 230,372 people have been submitted in flagrance, 3,374 requests for protection measures were processed and 2,134 measures were approved”.
In this regard, the Attorney General considered that “it is a very good balance, but we can improve it by attending all the observations we are making today”.
That is why he called on superior prosecutors to maintain constant supervision over prosecutors acting in their respective jurisdictions.
“The human limit is understandable, what is not understandable is self-sabotage. There are cases of prosecutors who think they can do whatever they want”. In this regard, he said that “there must be a sense of fellowship and cooperation to improve institutional performance”, he assured to those present.
Saab also warned of some failures in fiscal performance, detected through the Directorate of Inspection and Discipline and made a call to correct them. In particular, he expressed concern and issued instructions to eliminate delays in updating the status of cases in the case tracking system.
