Maduro congratulates the people of Ecuador for historic victory against the IMF

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated on Monday the heroic people of Ecuador who for more than 10 days remained in intense protests against the package of economic measures imposed by the president of that country, Lenín Moreno.
The head of state stressed that, thanks to popular pressure, the Ecuadorian government on Sunday night repealed Decree 883 that stipulated the elimination of the fuel subsidy, which caused the people’s outrage:
“I congratulate the Ecuadorian people because they have achieved a historic victory against the IMF, by achieving the repeal of Decree 883. It is a sign that the united social, labor and indigenous movements will always defend their most sacred conquests. Long live Ecuador!”, wrote President Maduro on his account on Twitter.
In Ecuador, the wave of protests increased after Moreno announced neoliberal reforms, which occurred after reaching a credit agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that eliminated the fuel subsidy, and decreased the holiday period from 30 to 15 days for the working class.
