Venezuela demands before the UN the end of the economic blockade imposed by the US

The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, demanded this Thursday before the United Nations Organization (UN), the cessation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government against the Venezuelan people, as well as the return of its companies and other assets to the nation.
Arreaza, during his participation in the 42nd Session of the HRC of the United Nations Organization, in Geneva, in Switzerland, said: “unilateral coercive measures openly violate human rights, produce death, hunger, poverty, inequalities, to generate the destabilization of the political systems of the affected nations”, said the chancellor during his speech at the panel, held at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, as reviewed the chancellory on Twitter.
At the beginning of the biennial panel discussion on unilateral coercive measures and human rights, Arreaza, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM) stressed: “Multilateralism is the only possible space to address the complex threats and challenges facing the world” and also advocated the establishment of a peaceful, prosperous, fair and equitable world.
Arreaza also indicated that the NAM believes that unilateral coercive measures cause great suffering to countries by boycotting economies, stifling trade and promoting the destruction of productive systems, so he insisted on the call to preserve multilateralism and strengthen international cooperation, and thus face the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures.
The Venezuelan diplomat also criticized the fact that: “there should be no members that impose or facilitate the application of secondary measures, nor governments that do not condemn or dare to condemn these measures. Because then they would not be violating human rights in their territories, but they would be facilitating, promoting or violating human rights in third country territories”, emphasized Arreaza.
He also stressed that in countries like Cuba they have calculated losses that reach one billion dollars for the blockade imposed by more than 60 years by the governments of the United States.
He finally said that “Nothing the US does will make us give in our intention to defend our sovereignty” and said that “This is the moment for multilateralism”.
