Venezuela and FAO sign agreements to strengthen agro-alimentary sector


The Government of Venezuela and the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO) signed agreements on Friday to strengthen the productive capacities and the economy of the country, as informed the Sectorial Vice President for Planning, Ricardo Menéndez.
During a tour of the CLAP food packaging center (Ceac), the FAO representative in Venezuela, Rolf Hackbart, confirmed the full operation of this space that distributes CLAP combos daily to communities in the Capital District and Miranda state, as states a press release from the Ministry for Alimentation.
In this regard, Hackbart ratified its commitment to Venezuela and all its institutions: “We reaffirm our support to production, agroecological production, seed production, construction of indicators to address residency from both the climate point of view; Food and nutrition security is a priority in the world”, he said.
Also, the Minister for Alimentation, Major General Carlos Leal Telleria, said that the work they have done throughout the week with the FAO “have given an excellent result”, complying with the instruction entrusted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro .
“Together with the Bolivarian National Militia we will strengthen the 51,000 Popular Units of Integral Defense, which will now fold the agricultural production units throughout the national territory. We have exchanged these experiences, trusting that we will have the result that is to guarantee the food sovereignty of our people”, explained Leal Tellería.
