The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed the proposal presented by the governments of Mexico and Uruguay, and the countries of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), meeting in Montevideo, with which it seeks to find a way out agreed to the political crisis generated in the country since last January 23.
In his Twitter account, the national president expressed his intention to take advantage of the «Montevideo Mechanism», an instrument composed of four phases, which the governments gathered in Montevideo have made available to the sectors in conflict in the country.

In a joint statement, issued prior to the meeting of the International Contact Group, to be held on Thursday, they point out that this mechanism is «a peaceful and democratic alternative that privileges dialogue and peace, to foster the necessary conditions for a comprehensive solution, A comprehensive and lasting one».
The mechanism, to be developed within a reasonable period of time, agreed by the parties involved in the process, contemplates four phases: immediate dialogue, negotiation, commitments and implementation.
