The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted on Wednesday the return of 10,000 Venezuelans to the country through the “Vuelta a la Patria” (Return to the Homeland) Plan, as stated in a message posted on his official account on the Twitter social network, accompanied by the following press release:
“A total of 10,000 Venezuelans have returned to the country from various Latin American nations, following the implementation of the Vuelta a la Patria Plan. This social program created by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, since last August, establishes an air and ground bridge for the return of the Venezuelans who decided to emigrate voluntarily and who lack the means to return on their own, after encountering an adverse reality in other nations, such as acts of xenophobia, labor exploitation, lack of opportunities and discrimination.
In addition, it incorporates those returnees and repatriated into social programs in Venezuela. According to information from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, 6,663 of that figure come from Brazil, 1,302 from Peru, 171 from Ecuador, 475 from Colombia, 186 from the Dominican Republic, 171 from Argentina, 91 from Chile and 1 from Panama. The highest percentage corresponds to young women, followed by adults and children. The older adults are in last position. For the most part, these nationals have been victims of a strong international campaign to leave their country with false promises of better opportunities than those offered by the Bolivarian Revolution, which this year allocated more than 72% of the national budget to social investment.
Requirements to access the Vuelta a la Patria Plan:
– To manifest the voluntary desire to return to Venezuela.
– To register in the registry system of the plan offering updated and truthful information about the situation abroad, and consign a copy or proof of the documents required in the registry.
In case of not having documentation, must be provided the identity data required in the registry.”
