Venezuela exhorts France not to meddle in internal affairs: Interference rejected

Read the communiqué from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection of the meddling and interventionist attitude of the Government of the French Republic, by offering its support to the tendentious initiative of a group of governments subordinated to the Government of the United States, which intend to use international organizations as instruments with the intention of attacking Venezuela and generating a change of Government by force.

Venezuela considers an act of flagrant hypocrisy that the French government expresses concern about the Venezuelan migration, when that country is co-responsible for dramatic and inhuman migratory flows from Africa, which then they refuse to attend and receive. Attacking Venezuela with populist aims, as a mechanism to improve the discredited image of President Macron and his government, resembles the best racist style of the French extreme right wing.

Venezuela and France share historical social, economic, political and cultural links, encouraged through the years from respect and cooperation. The arrogant attitude assumed by the French Government negatively impacts the good relations that both countries have held for decades.

The Venezuelans face today the consequences of a brutal unilateral blockade imposed by the United States, unfortunately sponsored by the European Union. This new display of interference by the French Government adds to the aggressions received from Europe to try to isolate Venezuela with the intention of aggravating the economic and social conditions of the Venezuelan people.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela again urges the French Government not to meddle in its internal affairs through such notorious subordination to Washington’s strategy against Venezuela, while inviting them to respect the fundamental principles of international law and healthy cooperation between civilized countries.
