Through the X social network, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab; announced this Wednesday that the Public Ministry (MP) began a criminal investigation against those responsible for the website that presents fraudulent electoral records as if they were authentic. This portal is sponsored by the extreme right wing of the Venezuelan opposition, in order to disown the legitimate and official results that were published by the National Electoral Council (CNE), on July 28:
«It was decided to initiate a criminal investigation against those responsible for the publication and maintenance of said website,» William Saab declared through the publication. He also stated that the investigations will be carried out in response to the criminal offenses of usurpation of functions, forgery of public documents, incitement to disobedience of laws, computer crimes, association and conspiracy.
The text was accompanied by a statement issued by the entity, in which it denounces that the digital site spreads false information that causes anxiety in the Venezuelan population: «The MP, faithful to its constitutional attribution of being the body in charge of directing the criminal investigation, will remain vigilant against any act that threatens the peace and stability of the country.»
