Government and opposition will resume dialogue on Tuesday

The Bolivarian Government and representatives of the opposition agreed to resume dialogue talks in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday at 9 a.m., as informed the spokesman of the Presidency of this nation, Roberto Rodríguez.

Rodriguez said that this decision is because both parties will discuss, with more time, the points to reach a final agreement.

“It is a crucial issue that deserves all the seriousness and we have to understand that it is reasonable and convenient that they take their time and that is why tomorrow at nine in the morning they will meet again,” said the spokesman for the Presidency of the Dominican Republic. from the headquarters of the Chancellory of this country.

He asserted that both parties want an agreement and that for this reason they are meeting in the Dominican Republic. “It is the best thing that can happen for Venezuela and that is why they are here”, he said.

Earlier, both parties had agreed to a three-hour recess to resume the meeting at nine o’clock at night, after six hours of dialogue.

The board of dialogue has been an initiative of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, since 2013. Since then he has made more than 400 calls to the opposition for the signing of an agreement of peace and democratic stability.

As of September 2017, a new stage of dialogue began in the Dominican Republic with the support of the former president of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the Dominican president, Danilo Medina, as well as Chile, Mexico, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

On behalf of the National Government, this Monday are present Jorge Rodríguez, head of the Venezuelan delegation, Delcy Rodríguez and Roy Chaderton.

For the opposition are the deputies to the National Assembly in contempt, Julio Borges, Simón Calzadilla, Enrique Márquez, the leader of the Un Nuevo Tiempo party, Manuel Rosales, among others.
