Sanctions by the European Union are aimed at destroying the Venezuelan nation

Roy Daza, a member of the International Affairs Committee of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), said on Thursday that he was not surprised by the sanctions announced by the European Union (EU) against Venezuelan government officials.

During an interview conducted by the private radio station Union Radio, the socialist leader said that: “Thomas Shannon was in Madrid (Spain) talking with the Spanish authorities so that through them the European Union could discuss and implement sanctions against Venezuela”.

In Daza’s opinion, the goal is to continue accentuating the siege and the blockade against Venezuela in order to aggravate its situation, since “evidently those are political measures on the part of the United States Government aimed at destroying the Venezuelan nation”.

During his speech, the representative of PSUV also referred to the process of dialogue with the opposition promoted by the Bolivarian Government where he stated that one of the obstacles the opposition has had is that they have not agreed on a method to choose a presidential candidate, because there are three opinions in relation to that, and there is also a partially unified candidacy and the debate on the composition of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
