President Maduro to Trump: You and I should talk

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, confirmed his willingness to dialogue with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and announced that he will soon send him a letter.

“I do want to talk to Trump, because only by talking the people can be understood. I tell you again, President Trump: Whatever the future of our relations, you and I should talk”, said the Head of State during a press conference with national and international media held from Miraflores Palace.

He assured that if the US President reads the letter, with a little goodwill, many things can change for better, “And thus we will save tensions, conflicts, problems, that are going to hurt our countries. It will hurt us both. And instead of escalating into a total conflict, let us de-escalate a relationship that can maybe be tense, but let there be a dialogue”.

The Venezuelan President reaffirmed that Venezuela is anti-imperialist and anti-colonial, but not anti-American, and added that “We love the people of the United States.”

Finally, he urged to speak of another world, and affirmed that it is not the world of invasions and threats, but that of understanding and dialogue.
