ANC sworn in Omar Prieto as new Governor of Zulia state

On Wednesday, the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) sworn in the new Governor of Zulia state, Omar Prieto, elected last Sunday, December 10. In the activity participated the Chairwoman of this institution, Delcy Rodríguez.

Governor Prieto was welcomed by the constituents of Zulia state, who accompanied him to the headquarters of the Legislative Palace in Caracas, where an Ordinary Session was held.

The swearing-in was carried out by decree, which was read by Aristóbulo Istúriz, vice-president of the National Constituent Assembly, then Delcy Rodíguez proceeded to swear in Omar Prieto, as Governor of Zulia.

“Subordination of Governor Omar Prieto, gives an example to those who believed that from the ranks of violence they could defeat the people,” said Rodriguez, who added that “this is a significant act, it is a historical lesson, I want to emphasize that he was elected with a greater amount of votes than the previous elected person, who did not wanted to be sworn in before the National Constituent Assembly, may you count on our support”.

For his part, Governor Omar Prieto, swore before the National Constituent Assembly to work for the inhabitants of that region, likewise thanked the support of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.

“I commit myself before this National Constituent Assembly to have absolute loyalty to the Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez and the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.” Finally, he stressed that: “More than 700,000 people from Zulia state spoke for peace, in those elections”.
