President Maduro proposes starting classes under presence-based and online modalities

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said this Sunday that “after having more awareness about what the pandemic has meant, having better protection mechanisms, we could try in October a shared, mixed modality of online and presence-based classes”.

During the premiere of the “Aquí con Ernesto” (Here with Ernesto) program, with its format via social networks, by the journalist and Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, host of the space, the Head of State warned that a small storm has been armed in the social networks based on the call he made to discuss the possibility of a resumption of face-to-face classes in October, “I am inclined towards open debate in the family. That all the families discuss this issue well, that they discuss it with the students, with the boys, girls and youth ”.

“I firmly believe that we must find a formula where we combine online education through the internet with presence-based classes. I have been following the entire debate in the United States and Spain about the different modalities. There have been errors in other countries such as the United Kingdom and they have had to go back, because they have wanted to open all normal classes as if the pandemic did not exist, which is a mistake”, he said.

He explained that his proposal is based on finding a viable balance point “so that we can directly and in person connect students with their teachers, keeping security measures to the extreme. It is a proposal that I started”.

The National President indicated that said proposal will be analyzed and debated through a survey, and the result of the same will be respected.

“If it were said no, then it’s no, (but) with arguments, with ideas, as I say, conversationally. If it were said that there are mixed, safe options (online and face-to-face) for boys, for teachers, safe for everyone, we would do it ”. He claimed.

Likewise, the Head of State stated that there is still time for a solution to the issue of the pandemic, so new ways must be sought to motivate the continuity of the student and thus avoid school dropouts.
