President Maduro denounces networks blockade to tell the truth of Venezuela

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Monday that social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram do not allow the Government to advertise to show the truth of the country and counteract the smear campaigns by the national right wing against the Homeland.

“So you can see the dictatorship of the networks and their owners, I, as President, cannot include any information and try to introduce national and international advertising to counteract all the dirty campaign against Venezuela, I cannot, I am vetoed, none of you can, only the opposition”, said the National President during a work journey in Fuerte Tiuna.

He indicated that in Venezuela there are 15 million accounts in social networks, mostly young people, which implies that the kind of messages that are being handled in the networks is what this youth consumes; for this reason an intense media war against Venezuela is undertaken through this digital tool.

“Radio, television and the written press have laws in each country that they must comply with, but social networks have no law in our countries. On Twitter they promote hatred here in Venezuela, and nothing happens, and will we allow that? Let’s put order in this”, he said.

He exhorted to raise the battle for the truth of the Homeland within the national territory in the media, networks and walls with the people, to face the international campaign against the Bolivarian Revolution.

In this sense, the National President announced the creation of the Vice Presidency of Government for Communication and Culture, which will be directed by the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez.

This new body will work in an articulated manner with the Ministries for the Presidency, Culture and Tourism, as well as the Vice Presidency of the Government for Political Sovereignty, to “raise the capacity of the Government for all communication issues of the cultural battle for the new man, for the new woman”.

“It is to give the battle for the truth and the image of Venezuela in the world, and to fight for the truth of our country within the national territory. The battle for the new identity, for the deep Venezuelanity, the Latin American and Caribbean sovereignty, and also the truth of our country, to raise the battle in the national and international media”, he emphasized.
