Irma’s passage caused severe damages in downtown Havana, as well as in patrimonial cities like Remedios or Caibarién; the lowlands of this last locality are totally flooded and the streets are obstructed by debris and trees collapsed by the hurricane winds that reached 250 kilometers per hour.

In the city of Remedios, declared as a National Patrimony of Cuba, the panorama is similar, there many houses have lost their roofs and the tiles have been razed by the force of the wind; the population has remained without electricity since Friday night.

According to Civil Defense authorities, Cuba has not yet reported any loss of human lives, however, about 10,000 homes were totally or partially affected by severe flooding.
