Maduro will urge the Pope to mediate with the opposition to stop using children in violent acts

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, informed this Sunday that he will send a letter to Pope Francis, to serve as an intermediary with opposition sectors to stop violence and the use of children and adolescents in their violent acts

“I am sending a letter to Pope Francis, so the Vatican and Pope Francis may help us and serve as an intermediary with the Venezuelan opposition, so they stop using children in (their) violent demonstrations, to stop training children in terrorist groups, so they stop incorporating children into the streets, with weapons, with handmade guns”, said the Head of State.

During an act of swearing in the members of the “Somos Venezuela” (We Are Venezuela) Movement, formed by brigades of volunteers to promote and strengthen the Missions and Great Social Missions, carried out in the Poliedro de Caracas, the National President emphasized that the children should go to classes, should play, share, make theater plays, and must not be used as instruments for the violence that harms the country.

In that sense, he instructed the Minister for Youth and Sports, Pedro Infante; snd the Deputy Minister for Promotion of Sports, Peace and Life, Alexander Vargas, to develop new places of peace so that children and the young people may have a space for culture and recreation.
