Maduro will request financial support from the UN to pay for flights of the Vuelta a la Patria Plan

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, informed on Thursday that he will request financial support to the United Nations Organization (UN) to pay for the flights of the Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland) Plan, which is promoted by the National Executive, and that has repatriated a total of 3,039 Venezuelans who went abroad and returned after being victims of discrimination, xenophobia, among other ill-treatment: “I’m going to ask the UN for 500 million dollars to pay for the planes”, he said.

During his speech at Miraflores Palace, the Head of State invited the former vice-president of Guatemala, Eduardo Stein, who was appointed on Wednesday as special representative of the UN, to assess the situation of migrants in the country.

Maduro reported that, up to date, there have been registered about 5,000 Venezuelans in the country’s embassy in Peru, to return to Venezuela, with the Vuelta a la Patria Plan.

“Welcome to a country that resisted, that loves you. The time has come for a new time of optimism that renews hope in a permanent way. This is the way; let’s not lose a single second”, he said.
