President Maduro: I am married to dialogue and committed to peace

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ratified this Sunday that he is married to political dialogue and committed to the peace of the nation for the tranquility of all Venezuelans.

“I am married to national dialogue, political dialogue, economic dialogue, social dialogue, daily dialogue, permanent dialogue. I am committed to peace, tolerance, love and respect among Venezuelans”, said the Head of State during his program “Contacto con Maduro” (Contact with Maduro) No. 76, broadcast by VTV, from the CLAP food packaging center in Fort Tiuna, Caracas.

In the program, he indicated that the dialogue table – which has the mediation of instances such as the Vatican – has no alternative but to continue advancing by the tranquility and progress of citizenship.

“The dialogue has no alternative so the dialogue will continue and the opposition has to reflect and connect with the great interests of the country,” reiterated the President.

The dialogue between the Government and the Venezuelan opposition, promoted by the National Executive, began at the end of last October, when four technical panels were established: 1) Peace, Respect for the Rule of Law and National Sovereignty; 2) Truth, Justice and Reparation of Victims; 3) Social-Economic and Generation of Confidence and 4) Electoral Schedule.

After defining this scheme of work, representatives of the Government and the opposition met on November 6, when it was agreed to define a road map to preserve the institutional order and thus overcome the current economic situation, as well as they ratified the commitment to work in a joint manner for the peace and democracy in the country.

On December 6, another working session was held, despite threats from opposition parties not to attend the meeting, and another plenary is scheduled for January 13.
