President Maduro celebrated the triumph of Venezuela’s sovereignty in the OAS

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated Wednesday the triumph of the sovereignty and independence of Venezuela in the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held in Cancun, Mexico.

“Victory at the OAS, congratulations to the team of Chancellor Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez; this victory favors us all in order to create a good climate. (…) When a people is free, the OAS ain’t worth a fuck, because we manage ourselves with our own effort, by our own love, by our own work. We had a great victory”, said the Head of State during a Council of Ministers, held at Miraflores Palace.

He mentioned that he is “A man of words, dialogue and peace”, for that reason he reiterated the call to the Venezuelan opposition to internally dialogue for the peace of the country. He also reaffirmed the willingness to dialogue with the United States Government, within the framework of respect and national sovereignty.

“Today we are standing here, victorious and ready to dialogue with everyone who has to dialogue, even with the Government of the United States,” he said while saying that dialogue, framed in respect, is necessary to develop the ties of brotherhood of Venezuela.

In that sense, the President said that in the coming days a commission of five countries from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States will arrive to promote and accompany the dialogue with sectors of the Venezuelan opposition.

Despite the long journeys of discussion and the pressures of the US and Mexican Governments, as well as the extremist sectors of the Venezuelan opposition, the 47th OAS General Assembly failed to approve an interventionist text, which sought to set bsck the call to National Constituent Assembly.
