In its regular session this Tuesday, the Legislative Branch approved the appointment of Samuel Moncada Acosta as Venezuela’s ambassador to the French Republic, with concurrency to the principalities of Andorra and Monaco.
Moncada’s profile and career were presented by Deputy Azucena Jaspe (PSUV/Miranda), who told the plenary that the diplomat will lead a work agenda based on the premise of mutual respect.
The parliamentarian stated that this appointment will serve as a base to reactivate the French-Venezuelan diplomatic dialogue, despite the political differences between the two governments.
Likewise, she expressed that Moncada’s appointment comes at a special political moment, one where the European Union has its recognition granted:
“We are taking steps toward a stage of mutual respect; therefore the matrix of isolation is crumbling,” she added.
Jaspe pointed out that Moncada, despite having held the highest diplomatic posts and being certified by the world’s leading international organizations, has never put aside his commitment to his country’s historical memory.
She highlighted as Moncada’s most outstanding work his duty as Permanent Representative to the UN, a position he held from 2017 to the present.
