With the goal of guaranteeing justice and integral social protection, the Bolivarian Government formally established the «Committee of Attention to Families of the Victims of the attack of January 3.»
The inter-institutional body, sworn in at the Guayana Esequiba Cultural Complex by the Mayoress of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, and the leader Nahum Fernández, will serve as the central hub for legal and human support of the families affected by the recent aggression against national sovereignty.
An unprecedented aggression:
During the event, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, denounced the magnitude of the attack perpetrated on the coasts of the Caribbean sea.
Moreover, he described the event as an extreme violence that involved the deployment of military technology and atomic weapons never seen before globally.
Given the seriousness of the events, which he qualified as a vile murder, the head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the appointment of five national prosecutors.
This team will lead an exhaustive and rigorous investigation in order to uncover the truth and determine the responsibilities after the physical and human damages caused by the aggression.
Integral Accompaniment:
In this regard, Mayoress Carmen Meléndez explained that the committee is designed to guarantee technical, legal, and social assistance to those who have suffered the consequences of the conflict.
She explained that the structure is divided into four fundamental axes:
– Commission of Representation
– Technical Secretariat
– Commission of Technical Advisory
– Commission of Assistance to Victims
This effort will have the active participation of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the civil and criminal justice system, organizations of victims and government institutions, under the premise of the «Diplomacy of Peace» promoted by the Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez.
For his part, Parliamentarian Nicolás Maduro Guerra offered a message of spiritual strength, urging the families to transform their pain into a constructive force to honor the victims.
“Our purpose now must be to honor their memory and that remembrance so that in Venezuela will never be forgotten what happened”, emphasized the parliamentarian.
He stressed that the progress of families and national peace are the pillars for the reconstruction of the country.
