Vice Minister Fonseca: Food Supply is guaranteed at 100%

“Today we can speak of a 100% supply on the shelves,” reported the Vice Minister for Food Marketing and Production, Francisco Fonseca. He also indicated that in previous years there were no options to choose from and that, currently, there are different brands available for consumption, which represents the “result of the National Council for Productive Economy.”

“We lived through a period where the economy was hit very hard, but today we are experiencing a growth, a sustained and real recovery,” stated Fonseca.

During his interview on the “De Frente con la Noticia”(Face to Face with the News) program, he highlighted that the country currently has “a large number of Sovereign Field Fairs, Mercal stores, and Venezuelan Food Producer and Distributor (PDVAL) stores that are being reinaugurated.”

Also, he explained that the national territory has more than 150 Mercal stores and that they have “a goal of reaching 400 stores to guarantee supply.”

“Venezuela has the conditions to export all the animal protein to neighboring countries, because we already have an important supply of the market.” In this same vein, he noted that last year ended with chicken production of 294,000 tons, while this year the goal is to reach 330,000 tons, according to the balance of the first five months of the year.
