Venezuela ratifies its historic rights over the Guayana Esequiba

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratified this Saturday, through an official communiqué, its firm historic position rejecting the null and fraudulent 1899 Paris Arbitral Award, 127 years after its issuance.

This new manifestation ratifies the sovereign and inalienable exercise over the resources and territory of Guayana Esequiba, with the purpose of defending the nation’s historic interests and contribute to the efforts of sovereignty and integral development of the country.

Likewise, Venezuela reaffirms its entire will to maintain the defense of its legitimate rights over this territory, grounded in respect for international law and the validity of the 1966 Geneva Agreement as the sole instrument for achieving a peaceful solution satisfactory to both parties.

Following, the full text of the Communiqué:

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms to the international community its historic, firm and irrevocable position of rejection of the null and fraudulent 1899 Paris Arbitral Award.

127 years after that artifice, with vices of nulity since its inception, Venezuela ratifies its historical rights over the Guayana Esequiba and reaffirms the full force of the 1966 Geneva Agreement as the valid legal instrument to solve the territorial controversy, through a practical, satisfactory and mutually acceptable agreement.

Venezuel reiterates its invitation to a direct ialogue with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana as the only path to lay solid and stable bases for the good neighborhood, cooperation, shared economic development and to promote investment in the region.

The sun of Venezuela is born in the Esequibo!”
