President Delcy Rodríguez met in Caracas with UNHCR representative Barham Salih

Continuing the agenda of activities of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez this Friday, was held a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), His Excellency Mr. Barham Salih, in the context of his visit to Venezuelan territory scheduled through Saturday, October 3, where was planned to fulfill various work commitments.

This meeting serves as an opportunity to define a roadmap for cooperation between Venezuela and the UNHCR. This new phase of the relationship is being developed based on frank and direct dialogue, mutual respect, and national sovereignty, while adhering to the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence that must guide humanitarian action.

Accompanying the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at the meeting were the Director of the Regional Bureau for the Americas, Isabel Márquez; Senior Official Federico Sersale; the UNHCR Representative in Venezuela, Kristin Halvorsen; the UNHCR international staff member Melanie Gallant, among other authorities.

Representing the Venezuelan delegation were the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia; the First Deputy Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Oliver Blanco; and the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Joaquin Pérez.
