Venezuela ratifies at the UN its commitment to social development focused on communities

During her address to the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, Ambassador Coromoto Godoy Calderón reaffirmed Venezuela’s unwavering commitment to a social development model centered on people, families, and communities.

According to information shared on her social media, marking thirty years since the Copenhagen Summit and ahead of the World Summit on Social Development in Doha, the diplomat emphasized that poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, social inclusion, as well as the reduction of inequalities must remain firmly at the heart of the multilateral agenda. For the Venezuelan State, social development goes beyond merely addressing immediate needs; consolidating itself as a cross-cutting public policy and a fundamental pillar for national recovery and transformation.

In the framework of the nation that is being reborn, Godoy Calderón highlighted the ongoing effort to create the ideal conditions for families to study, work, prosper, and access quality services, thereby strengthening social protection, human development, social mobility, and equality of opportunities.

Likewise, she underscored that, in the face of adversity and emergencies, such as the earthquakes that occurred last June 24, the absolute priority of the Venezuelan Government has been safeguarding families and guaranteeing access to food, healthcare, education, and housing.

Finally, the ambassador denounced unilateral coercive measures as a direct obstacle to the development and well-being of peoples, reiterating the urgent call to restore an international order founded on international law, the principles of the United Nations Charter, cooperation, and mutual solidarity.

She recalled that the true purpose of multilateralism must be geared towards improving the living conditions of populations and building societies that are genuinely just, inclusive, resilient, and prosperous.
