The Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, ratified that it is essential for Venezuela to enter a new period of diplomatic reconciliation in order to eradicate the hatred, violence, and political antagonism that led to the bombing on January 3. Therefore, she exhorted to continue promoting channels of dialogue and respect through the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace.
“Hatred led us to this, because it has been such the hatred of a certain class in this country, of an economic and political class, it has been such the hatred against sectors of Venezuelan men and women that it went so far as to request a foreign intervention; what could not be resolved through national politics, they demanded with missiles, with bombs,” denounced Rodríguez during a meeting with survivors and victims of political extremism.
For this reason, Rodríguez insists on that it is essential for every political sector in the country to unite in pursuit of a common goal: The defense of the homeland against foreign threats.
“I thought that the first thing thing we need to cure is hatred, and there is a human group, of diverse people who are in the Democratic Coexistence Program to see how we can heal that hatred, those expressions of intolerance, of not recognizing those who think differently, those who have a different creed, those who have a different sexual expression, and above all, of not recognizing the right to the dignity of those who are different,” reflected Rodríguez.
Rodríguez Recalls the guarimbas (riots) of 2017:
In this regard, the Acting Dignitary brought up the case of young Orlando Figuera, whose socioeconomic situation, political ideology and background made him a target of hatred during the guarimbas (riots) of 2017.
“There I said: ‘Venezuela needs to heal, it needs to heal because this has taken us too far.’ It has brought us to the sowing of falsehoods and dangerous lies about Venezuela abroad through the media powers, whose objective was precisely to justify a military intervention in our country,” recalled Rodríguez.
