After a meeting held this Wednesday, February 11 with the Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, US Secretary of Energy Christopher Wright stated that both countries share a long history of various chapters:
“It is an honor to be by your side today and among the wonderful Venezuelan people. As Acting President Rodríguez said: our countries share a long history of various chapters, as all relationships do,” he highlighted.
To the national and international media, Wright stressed that the US dignitary is committed to transforming the relationship between the two nations.
“It is part of a broader agenda, (…) to unite our two countries through trade. To bring trade, peace, prosperity, jobs, and opportunities to Venezuela in conjunction with a partnership with the US,” he asserted.
He also explained that this process is part of President Trump’s broader agenda to bring peace and trade to the country, not conflicts and military actions that have dominated the world in regions like the Middle East and South Asia.
He also assured that the dialogue with the Acting President was given in a pleasant and sincere manner: “We both spoke very frankly about the opportunities that exist in the future, the problems and challenges we have faced. I am convinced that these are problems and challenges that we can solve to bring new opportunities,” he added.
Furthermore, he considered that if both countries work together this 2026, the production of oil, natural gas, and electricity will significantly increase in Venezuela.
