President in Charge receives UN under-secretary-general Tom Fletcher

This Tuesday, the President in Charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a work meeting with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, following his arrival in the country after the seismic emergency caused by the recent earthquakes that affected seven states of the Nation.

In the high-level meeting also partaked the UN Resident Coordinator in Caracas, Gianluca Rampolla; the President of the Joint Staff for Temporary Camps and Housing, Jorge Rodríguez; and the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil.

Prior to the meeting, Fletcher informed through his social media that he would travel directly to La Guaira state, the epicenter of the two devastating earthquakes that occurred two weeks ago.

During the meeting with Venezuelan authorities, the high-ranking UN official valued the extraordinary mobilization of solidarity, coordinated, and practical, that has been deployed throughout the national territory.

He detailed that he will maintain a joint and permanent work agenda with the National Government to review and coordinate the response actions to the crisis in a direct manner.

For her part, the Head of State in Charge reaffirmed the Bolivarian Government’s full commitment to continue strengthening cooperation with the multilateral system, with the firm purpose of remaining perfectly attuned with the civilian plans of relief and recovery.
