President Delcy Rodríguez led meeting in New York with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva

Within the framework of the 81st United Nations General Assembly held in New York, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a bilateral meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.

This high-level meeting, developed in an atmosphere of diplomatic cordiality, aimed primarily to resume conversations initiated during the historic technical engagement the two leaders previously held in Caracas, where were established the basis for a more fluid dialogue regarding the international financial architecture.

During the exchange, both authorities made a balance of the advances in Venezuela’s economic stabilization, contrasting current macroeconomic challenges with the technical recommendations discussed during their last meeting on Venezuelan territory.

The President maintains her interest in driving the diversification of the productive sector and controlling inflation indicators. The UN General Assembly allowed for the conversation between the two leaders to transcend the technical aspects.

This meeting in New York was the ideal context to use diplomacy as the primary tool for bridging gaps in understanding and fostering good relations within the region.
