The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced through her official channels that 1,046 Venezuelan citizens who had been deprived from liberty have returned to their homes:
«Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to national reconciliation. 1,046 nationals who were deprived from liberty have returned to their homes within the framework of the agreements reached among Venezuelans. We will continue advancing, with responsibility,» were the president’s words in the broadcast message.
The announcement is made after the first round of dialogue between delegations from the government and the opposition, which concluded last August 12 in Caracas with agreements to advance on issues related to the transformation of the justice system.
The releases stem from requests by the Public Ministry to review the legal status of persons being prosecuted or convicted.
