Members of the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) in the Parlasur repudiate the statements of the de facto Chancellor of Brazil, Jose Serra, who criticized the transfer to Venezuela of the pro-tempore presidency of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) as part of a strategy to ward off the brazilian nation from its Latin American neighbors.
Deputy to Parlasur, Angel Rodriguez, reported that this official is part of an interim, illegal and fragile regime, which lacks the legitimacy to challenge the Government of President Nicolas Maduro.
«Serra is a representative of an unconstitutional government, which fraudulently forged an impeach against President Dilma Rousseff, arbitrarily placing a President with an oppositional trend. President Michel Temer develops an anti-democratic political agenda against the will of the majority».
He added that these officials pretend to forget they are into power as a product of a parliamentary coup d’ etat supported by the legal and media manipulation, which tries to reduce the influence of the worker’s party and end the social programs aimed at the most economically vulnerable population.
«Serra’s attacks on Venezuela aim to fragment the Mercosur, in order to undermine the capacity of negotiation that has the block to other geopolitical groups to avoid to strengthen its influence. They do not want the South American nations to strengthen institutional mechanisms for coordination of foreign policy or defense of their sovereignty».
Congressman Rodriguez said that Temer and Serra defend the free market and therefore want to open gaps to boost bilateral free trade agreements with the major world powers, in very unfavorable conditions due to the prevailing asymmetries.
He added that this line of action of the Brazilian authorities was designed by the United States, in order to weaken the multipolar model of relations between countries of the globe, driven by China and Russia.
«Washington wants to regain its hegemony and thus it will continue torpedoing any initiative of interstate relationship in matters of trade exchange and solidarity, which threatens its imperial position,» concluded Angel Rodriguez.
