Venezuela and Colombia subscribe Joint Declaration to strengthen binational integration

With the signing of a Joint Declaration, the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, sealed this Tuesday at Miraflores Palace a “fruitful, intense and extensive day” that deepens bilateral integration in the context of a positive cooperative agenda.

“We have discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation between Colombia and Venezuela, two countries that have a mark in history for brotherhood and understanding”, emphasized the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, from the Ayacucho Hall of the presidential complex, located in Caracas.

Emphasizing that Colombia and Venezuela coincide “in a common destiny” that calls on governments -in the diversity of thoughts- to work for a shared well-being, he explained that the dialogue addressed the current situation of commercial and economic alliances, as well as related areas to peace, border security and issues of multilateral interest.

In this sense, the President reiterated that the first meeting with President Gustavo Petro “is truly auspicious, with good results” and that it augurs “good news for both populations” in the remainder of 2022.

“Surely we will be directing – from 2023 onwards – the steps of integration and strengthening of relations between our peoples, our governments and our two countries”, he stressed.

Under this premise, the Venezuelan Dignitary reaffirmed to his Colombian counterpart: “You will always be very welcome to the Homeland of Bolívar, to our beautiful Homeland.”
